River monitoring

We're installing 150 monitors to help keep our rivers clean and healthy.

What's happening?

When your wastewater reaches us, we clean it and return it back into Yorkshire's rivers. We release this water through our wastewater outfalls.

We're installing 150 solar-powered monitors to keep an eye on our wastewater outfalls. The monitors will allow us to check our outfalls more regularly and react to pollution reports faster - so we can keep our rivers clean and healthy!

What do the monitors look like?

The monitors are slim great boxes, here's a photo of one.

What can the monitors see?

Our monitors point down at our wastewater outfalls.

They won't be monitoring public areas, so don't worry, you won't be caught on camera!
