Yorkshire Water is investing £384,000 to replace clean water pipes in the village of Weel, nr Beverley.  This will improve resilience in the water network and maintain water pressure to manage fluctuations in demand.

Contract partners O’ Connor Utilities (OCU) will start on site from Monday 28 October and the scheme is expected to take 17 weeks to complete.  The work will be carried out in two phases and we have liaised with the council highways team to make sure that traffic management is in place so that it can be completed safely.

Phase one will start on Carr Lane by The Homestead, towards the junction of Weel Road, (28 October – 20 December) with phase two (2 January – 14 February) continuing up Weel Road to the junction of Grovehill Road.  A road closure will be in place for each individual phase of the improvements as we will need to close Carr Lane and Weel Road to through traffic, though residents and businesses will still have access.

Work will pause over this Christmas break from 20 December and resume 2 January 2025 to complete this important work.  Our customer liaison team is in contact with local residents and the community to let them know what will be happening and when.

Victoria Corbett, asset delivery project manager, Yorkshire Water, said: “This investment will improve resilience in the network, providing safe, clean, reliable water now and into the future.

“We apologise to residents for any inconvenience this may cause and thank them for their patience as we carry out this work.  This is one of the many improvements we are making that are part of our £800m investment in infrastructure across the region this year.  It also includes £180m to reduce storm overflow use and improve water quality in our region’s rivers.”
