Tophill Low Nature Reserve near Driffield in East Yorkshire is hosting its annual open day on Sunday 9 June, inviting the public to visit the popular wildlife oasis for free.

The Yorkshire Water reserve, which is home to otters, barn owls, kingfishers and grass snakes, will be hosting pond dipping, nature trails, craft activities, and a guided Bird Sound Safari Walk. Visitors will also be able to hear from over 20 conservation exhibitors.

Attending organisations include East Yorkshire Rivers Trust, Natural England, Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and the RSPCA Wildlife Response, amongst others.

Richard Hampshire, nature reserve warden at Yorkshire Water, said: “We see a brilliant turn out every year for our open day, and we’re hoping for the same again. It’s always fantastic to see the passion that the wider public has for wildlife and for our conservation efforts at the reserve.”

Doors are open between 10am and 4pm, with the Bird Sound Safari with Yorkshire Coast Nature starting at the Reception Hide at 10:30am, and again at 14:30. Families can enjoy pond dipping at 10:30am and 13:30. All other activities and food will be available throughout the day.

The reserve is signposted four miles from the A164 at Watton, East Yorkshire. Only assistance dogs are permitted.
