Yorkshire Water is investing £1.2m in its clean water network in Heworth and Monks Cross in York, to improve the resilience of the network in the area and maintain water pressure as demand increases.

The project, which is being delivered by O’Connors, will see around 2.4km of clean water pipes replaced.

Fran Richardson, project manager at Yorkshire Water, said: “Our work in Heworth and Monks Cross is vital to ensuring that the clean water network will continue to operate effectively in the near and long-term future.”

Works are set to begin on 8 July from Dodsworth Avenue in Heworth, and will progress towards Jockey Lane in Monks Cross, where works are expected to complete at the end of the year.

While work is ongoing, traffic management will be in place around Monks Cross to keep customers and colleagues safe. This will include temporary traffic lights and some road closures, but access for residents will be maintained where possible.

Fran added: “We thank residents and road users for their understanding and patience whilst we complete these necessary works. We will be communicating directly with customers impacted.”
