Yorkshire Water will recruit more than 80 new positions over the financial year, with the roles set to support the utility’s drive towards creating a thriving Yorkshire.

The new roles are opening in line with Yorkshire Water’s business plans for the next five years, which outline the utility’s largest ever programme of investment to improve the environment, deliver first-class customer service, and future-proof its activities.

The plans detail £7.6bn investment across the region, including:

  • £3bn to drive efforts to deliver secure, safe, clean water supplies with improved resilience of network and pipes and a focus on managing water resource sustainability to meet future demand.
  • £4bn to support plans for a healthy, natural environment, with a focus on protecting and improving river and coastal water quality and enhancing biodiversity across the region.

As Yorkshire Water expands its scale and capabilities, it is seeking to recruit candidates for positions across its Land and Property, Strategy and Regulation, and Programme Delivery teams.

Adam Ashman, head of strategic planning at Yorkshire Water, said: “We’re planning to make our largest ever environmental investment over the course of the next five years, with the protection and improvement of water quality in our rivers and coasts a key focus. Bringing talented colleagues, and new skills, into the business will help us to deliver our ambitious plans for the region.”

The utility is looking for people who are passionate about helping the business meet its commitments and goals in these spaces. Relevant skills include water resources, sustainability, wastewater modelling, flood risk management, land surveying, process engineering and design management.

Lee Otter, head of land and property at Yorkshire Water, added: “We want to recruit from the widest talent pool possible, to support our ambition of creating a workforce that is truly representative of the communities and individuals that we serve. We’d encourage anybody who feels that their strengths and skills could be a match to apply.”
