Yorkshire Water is urging customers who may need extra help to sign up to its Priority Services Register (PSR) - a free additional support service – so they can enjoy a stress-free festive period.

The PSR is a free service offered by Yorkshire Water which aims to provide support to those in the community who feel that they need it. Though there’s no specific eligibility criteria, people who may find the service particularly helpful include parents of young children, the elderly, and those with mobility concerns or hearing and vision impairments.

Multiple types of support are available:

  • bottled water deliveries during a loss of supply
  • setting up passwords so customers can be assured it’s Yorkshire Water knocking on their door
  • nominating someone else to manage their account
  • provision of accessible bills (i.e. braille, large print, or over the phone)

Angie Markham-Nock, affordability strategy manager at Yorkshire Water, said: “The last thing customers want during the festive season is extra worries – whether that be about who is calling, how they will read and pay their bills, or how they would access water in the event of loss of supply.

“We can help customers who think that they might need it and hopefully take away some of these stresses so that they can focus on enjoying the holidays.”
