Why haven’t you introduced a hosepipe ban?
Last year we introduced a hosepipe ban when Yorkshire was declared in a drought by the Environment Agency, water use was high and reservoir levels were very low. At the moment, reservoir levels are higher than this time last year, and just slightly below their usual level, at 82%. We know our customers are water savvy and we’re encouraging them to save water where they can.
What are our current reservoir levels like?
Our reservoir levels are currently higher than this time last year, but slightly below their usual level, at 82%. While it’s great that they have recovered from last year’s exceptionally dry spring and summer, we’re asking everyone to please be mindful of their water use when enjoying the sunny weather.

What are you doing to save water?
We understand that it’s not all down to our customers to save water, and we're really grateful for your help. Our colleagues are working hard in the heat, finding and fixing leaks as quickly as they can to save as much water as possible. We’re using our network of pipes to move water around the region and balance our reservoir stocks – which are currently higher than this time last year, but slightly below their usual level, at 82%.
