Leak test

Is there a leak on your supply pipe?

Use your stop tap and water meter to see if there's a leak on your supply pipe.

Safety first!

Please only complete this test if you can safely access your water meter.

1. Check your water meter

Find your water meter and double check the meter serial number is the same as the one on your bill.

If you see water dripping from or around the meter in dry weather, or the water in the chamber moving or rotating, get in touch with us so we can investigate the problem.

2. Turn off all appliances that use water

Make sure any appliances that use water, such as washing machines or dishwashers, are turned off.

3. Turn off your internal stop tap

Find your internal stop tap (usually under your kitchen sink) and turn it off slowly.

Turn on your tap until it runs dry to ensure the stop tap is fully off.

Can't find your stop tap?

4. Read your water meter

Take note of your reading by writing it down or take a photo.

5. Wait at least 30 minutes

Don't use any water while you're doing this test.

6. Read your water meter again
